Here it is. The builder accepted our offer so we are buying a new house. For so long we were looking for an existing home, but with so many people upside down on their mortgage and so many places forclosed on, we're not having much luck. The people upside down on their mortgage are called short sales, and those are taking anywhere from 2-3 months minimum to get an answer from the bank if they'll allow the home to be sold for a loss. Then the actual home buying process would start. It could easily be anywhere from 4-9 months to buy something like that. The foreclosures go a little quicker, but people are taking their frustrations out on the home before being kicked out. Some places are missing appliances, floors, fireplace faces, and even the entirety of the kitchen cabinets. The last foreclosure we looked at had random paint all over the house which would require that the entire house be repainted. The carpets weren't in good condition either so it would have meant new carpets in at least parts of the house. That place was only $12,000 less than our new place.
Our place is not built yet, but should be done before we actually get all the loan work complete. All but one of the pictures posted here are of either the model home or of someone elses home that is almost just like ours to be completed. Enjoy the pictures. Vin
Entering through the front door, the formal dining room is on the right.
Looking back towards the front door, the formal living room would be to the left after entering.
Continuing straight in through an archway, the kitchen is on the left, the family room is on the right, and the bedrooms head down a hallway to the right.

The kitchen's layout. It comes standard with the built in appliances (not the fridge, and not in the stainless). On the right is one of two pantries. Standard is without the glass which is the way we'll like it.

The pantries, breakfast area, and patio doors.

Looking out from the kitchen, we came in from the right, here. This is the family room with gas fireplace. Down the hallway is the laundry room and hallway closet on the right. The first bathroom is on the left, and the first bedroom is straight ahead.

You can see the first bedroom here. The hallway then turns left towards the back of the house towards the next two rooms and the master bedroom and bath.

The bathroom. You can't see it, but it has double sinks.

First bedroom doorway on the right, another hallway closet, and one of the boys' rooms. The other one is on the other side of the hallway.

Master bedroom. We could get a mini-bar and cabinets put in to the left (you can just barely see them) if we wanted. This way we could really have a midnight drink.

Master bedroom is open to the master bath. We're going to try to get that opening closed off with a sliding door or something so I don't wake Shannon up whenever I get up at all hours.

Double sinks to the left, tub and shower stall straight in.

Continuing right is the toilet with its own door and the walk-in closet.

Walk-in closet is quite big. The standard has wire racks...this is an upgrade.

And what a nice upgrade it is. I don't know if I'll be able to do this myself or if we'll buy the upgrade.

This is almost the exact home we will get except the garage doors will be on the other side. This is the color and front style though exactly.

This is our home exactly. We'll have an upslope to the backyard as you can see. The back right of the house sticks out farther than the left side so we'll have more room around the corner (you're looking at the right side of the house). As you can see, the house has been framed, almost roofed, and windows in. They estimate about another 45-60 days to finish.

Yay!! What a gorgeous house!! Even knowing that that was a model home! It's a FANTASTIC layout, and LOVE the kitchen! Only thing that might make it better would be a walk in pantry and built in microwave.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, can't wait to see your house when it's all finished and all!!
Congrats again!
It does come with a built-in microwave...4th pic from the top, but I'd prefer double ovens since I have a darned near brand new microwave that was only like a year and a half old that my folks got me for my b-day before we left for Germany so I haven't used it for almost 4 yrs. It's white and doesn't "go" with Stainless, but everything else I have, KitchenAid Mixer, Toaster, Blender, Microwave, hand mixer, etc. are white so I'm o.k. with white for those, but would LOVE the stainless for the BIG things. We'll see. Depends on $$$.
ReplyDeleteIt is going to be BEAUTIFUL...congrats!!!!
