Impossible Acre Pumpkin Patch & Pumpkin Carving 2010
Today was the 6th ARS (Vin's Squadron) outing to the Impossible Acre Pumpkin Patch in Davis, CA. We went last year and had a BLAST and the boys were even more thrilled this year because Bren remembered it from last year. Bren LOVES anything to do with farming and so I just had to get him and Alex Bib Overalls for them to wear to the farm. They were just adorable as you can see from the pics and very practical given the setting. It was cloudy and around 60 degrees so much different from last year where it was near 90 and we were in shorts and t-shirts. It rained earlier in the morning and as we were driving home, but God blessed us with not even a drizzle while we were visiting this adorable part of His creation in the Central Valley of CA today. It truly was just wonderful and we had a GREAT time! I didn't get pics, but we did a tractor ride, a hay maze, a hay pyramid, and the boys got to each take a pumpkin that they could carry and it was just TONS of FUN!!!
Getting ready to see the animals. Must have our hats!
"See Mom, I'm smiling!"
Still smiling.
Baby goats.
Not sure what Bren's looking for here. ;)
Alex trying to look the goat in the eye to say, "Hi!"
Papa hoping the duckling has already used the toilet.
Bren told me the other night he wants to have "1 sheep only" when he's "big like Daddy" so I had to get a pic of him with the sheep.
Alex thinks the chickens are pretty funny.
Gettin' "jiggy" wit da scarecrow.
Alex watching his step.
Brennan checking the soil.
Cute Alex.
Alex finally looking at the camera!
Happy boy with his pumpkin!
Bren and I with cheesy grins while Vin and Alex look "cool" and handsome.
On the drive home....
Both "engines" went "inop."
I gutted the pumpkins while we put Vin's artistic skills to use carving. He got a lot of "help" from the boys.
The only bit of pumpkin carving Bren would do--taking the eyeballs out once Vin had carved them.
Vin's about to go Jack Nicholson in "The Shining" with all of the boys' not-so-helpful "assistance." Nothing makes Papa's blood pressure rise like boys standing on chairs around sharp knives.
And then Papa got a pic of the finished product! We already had 4 pumpkins that Bren had us get at a grocery store a couple weeks ago so the pumpkins they got after the tractor ride Vin carved for the kitties. The cat on the left has a spot on it's nose like our cat Cleo. From left to right they are: Cleo, Brennan, Vin, Shannon, Alex, & Simon.
